Stills and a short from video ad for a marketing class in which we were to create a fictional product and devise a strategy to sell it and prepare necessary marketing material as well.
BACKGROUND:
Project for a college level marketing course in which a fictional product was to be created and a marketing plan would be rolled out. With the recent release of the first generation apple watch, we ideated around a smart watch with a holographic interface.
PRODUCT DESIGN:
Rather than using the watch as an extension modal of the smart phone, we opted to use the open-air real estate from the holographic interface for independent use cases. The watch would still be compatible with other Apple products. Interaction with the interface would primarily be triggered by gestures. Other modes of interaction would include traditional button pressing, and voice interface.
BRANDING & MARKETING PLAN:
We named the product “iWatch” to distinguish it from the Apple Watch, which would presumably have gone through many iterations by the time holographic technology would be in existence. To reinforce the novelty and eye-catching technology, we used “Don’t Believe me, just WATCH’ as our product tagline from Bruno Mars’s “Uptown Funk”.
Keeping with apple’s sleek and simple design, printed and static promotional material would be minimalistic in design. For promotional video, we created a 75 second spot showing how the watch could be used in day to day scenarios.
